Week 5- Activity- Arts Funding (Dance)

Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform based in the United States. The company’s stated mission is to help bring creative projects to life. Kickstarter has reportedly received more than $1.5 billion in pledges from 7.8 million backers to fund 200,000 creative projects, such as films, music, stage shows, comics, journalism, video games, and food-related projects.

I looked up several different kickstarter projects that are related to funding dance companies, or performances. After viewing a couple and also noticing a patter, it was very easy for me to decide on one very successful project and one not very successful project. The first project is “First Movie by Ori Flomin” and it was very successful in my opinion, even without noticing the 174% funded.

The second project that was not very successful in my opinion was, “‘Air’ A Dance Performance Art by Brietta Leader”. Especially in contrast to the first project, this video wasn’t as professional and clear to me as the first one was. I’m not saying that they won’t reach their goal, but as a viewer, it didn’t appeal to me as much.
